THE DETECTIVE TIP (mobile spying)

Now you can spy on anyone using your cell phone. Just do the following.

Activate the “Automatic Answer” in the headset profile of your cell phone and set the ringing volume to “Mute”

Short-circuit the left middle and right pins on the bottom of the mobile phone with all connections touching each other this will activate profile “Headset”.
If you cant do this just keep your earphone connected to mobile.

Now place it under a table in a room and call it. Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room. Just call on your phone.

The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR NOKIA PHONE WITH NOKIA COMMUNICATION CENTER

Yet again, I have come up with a new applications recently released by Nokia Beta Labs.
Nokia Communication Center - It allows you to access all your mobile phone messages and contacts.
This application is some what like Nokia Pc Phone , or you can say more than it.
Advantages:
It replaces four Nokia PC Suite features - Nokia Phone Browser, Nokia Text Message Editor, Nokia Contacts Editor, and Nokia Multimedia Factory - with one simple application for all.
Installation Requirement: You must have Nokia PC Suite version 6.85 or later installed for running this application.

BLUEJACKING

First up, you need to know what Bluetooth is. There are lots of types of modern devices that incorporate Bluetooth as one of their many features. PDAs, mobile phones and laptops are a few of these modern devices. Bluetooth means that Bluetooth enabled devices can send things like phonebook/address book contacts, pictures & notes to other Bluetooth enabled devices wirelessly over a range of about 10 metres. So, we’ve got past the boring part. Now, using a phone with Bluetooth, you can create a phonebook contact and write a message, eg. ‘Hello, you’ve been bluejacked’, in the ‘Name’ field. Then you can search for other phones with Bluetooth and send that phonebook contact to them. On their phone, a message will popup saying “‘Hello, you’ve been bluejacked’ has just been received by Bluetooth” or something along those lines. For most ‘victims’ they will have no idea as to how the message appeared on their phone.

There is also a section for testing your phone hardware and features which once again depends on which Sony Ericsson phone you have but normally includes;
Main display, LED/illumination, Flash LED, Keyboard, Earphone, Speaker, Radio, Camera, Vibrator, Microphone
Shortcut Codes
There are some shortcut codes which are not found in older manuals;
<- * * <- Queries the device lockstatus
0# Displays the call history tab
<-0000-> Resets the phone to the default language (normally English) or in some cases it takes you to the language selection menu which is good enough if you are trying to restore your phones language settings after a minor mistake or prank
Once again if you are aware of any other Sony Ericsson Secret codes please send me a mail so that I can add them to the list here

Blackberry Secret Codes and Hacks

Blackberry secret codes for hidden menus work a bit differently to all other manufacturers since you don't use the *#code# sequence but rather activate most of the codes by holding the ALT key. As always it is right to point out that these are not some magic Blackberry hacks just the codes to access the hidden menu systems which people commonly refer to as the Blackberry secret codes. To use these codes you just have to enter the key sequence as specified.

LG Secret Codes and Hacks

The LG mobile phones do not have quite as many secret codes as other phones available but there are still some interesting codes available which can be quite useful. The codes are for older models of phone but several of them still work on the latest LG cell phones. You will notice that the codes vary a lot from model to model so you might need to try a few codes to find the sets the work on your LG phone. I am not sure why they did not standardize the codes like with the Nokia Secret Codes

These LG mobile phone secret codes are known to work on the majority of LG cell phones;

Nokia Secret Codes and Hacks

These codes for the Nokia series of phones provide some interesting information for users, they also unlock some hidden functions. These codes are often referred to as "Nokia Secret Codes" or "Nokia Hacks". Use the codes at your own risk, not all Nokia phones support all codes, I have tried to split them into these groups.
Nokia Secret Codes
These 3 codes work on 90% of Nokia phones;
*#06#n/aDisplay the IMEI (Standard GSM command, works on all phones)
*#0000#n/aDisplay the firmware version and date
*#92702689#*#war0anty#Here you can view the S/N and the IMEI as well as the life timer (newer models). The date the phone left the factory and the date it was purchased. If your phone has been repaired the date of the repair is also visible. You will need to turn the phone off to exit this menu. Newer phones simply require you to press ok.
The following codes are specific to older series 40 phones;  (Entering the following codes will restart the phone)
*4720#(*hra0#)Activates Half Rate, Half Rate is 5.6kbit/s and uses half the bandwidth at the cost of call quality. Network operators often activate half rate on overloaded towers during peak times to save costs.
#4720#(#hra0#)Deactivates Half Rate
*3370#(*efr0#)Activates Enhanced Full Rate, EFT attempts to match wire quality. The calls are 12.2kbit/s and are not supported by all operators. It is compatibale with the hightest AMR mode.
#3370#(#efr0#)Deactivates Enhanced Full Rate
*#746085685#(*#sim0clock#)Display the SIM clock status

The following codes are phone specific or phase related;

*#7220#(*#pca0#)Activate the GPRS PCCCH support (Packet Common Control Channel)
*#7230#(*#pcd0#)Deactivate the GPRS PCCCH support
*#7760#(*#ssn0#)Display the manufacturing serial number

This only works on the 3310 and 3330;

*#67705646#(*#opr0logo#)Clear the operator logo, the logo will be reset to the default network operator logo.

The following codes work on newer series 40 & series 60/80 phones;

*#2820#(*#bta0#)Display the Bluetooth MAC address (Phone must have a built in bluetooth adapter)
*#7370925538#(*#res0wallet#)Reset the mobile wallet (Phone must have the mobile wallet feature)
*#7370#(*#res0#)Soft-format the memory (Symbian)
*#7780#(*#rst0#)Reset to factory defaults, confirmation required (also known has a Hard-format), all phone contents will be wiped clean including contacts and smses if they are stored on the phone
Bonus Trick - Set off security alarms in shops
On Nokia phones which support closed user groups go to settings >security settings>user groups and change the group to 500, this will cause most theft detectors in stores to go off, incidentally setting the code to 00000 causes the phone to beep with older speed trap radars.
If you have any other Nokia Secret Codes or tricks please send them to me so that I can add them here.

Why I chose the Nokia E72

On Thursday, I received the Nokia E72 which was finally delivered by Hutchison Three. I signed up on the $29 cap and received the phone for free. The plan includes $150 worth of calls, SMS, MMS, international calls and calls to other non-Three phones. All calls to Three phones are free with an unlimited use of these free calls included. When signing up, they also offered the data plan for $4 per month which includes 500MB each month which is plenty for what I intend to use it for (Gmail, Maps Navigation, Web surfing).

The phone is a Nokia E72-2 model which is a Three branded phone without the availability of the latest  400.21.013 firmware. I chose a black E72 so that it maintains its professional look.

Setting up
As the first thing to do, I used a backup of my Nokia E63 on PC suite to restore it on the Nokia E72. That way, I could retain my contacts, calendar entries, notes, bookmarks etc but the SMS did not transfer properly. Half of the SMS messages from my old phone did not make it but I am not sure why.

Features I love about the E72
- Choosing the length of your snooze time
- Full screen caller ID photos
- The opti-navi key which allows touch sensitive scrolling
- Excellent keypad for texting and typing
- Free QuickOffice upgrade
- Fast CPU processor compared to the E63 and E71
- Turn-to-silence the phone when a call comes through
- Spoken alerts such as "Battery Full" and "Charging"
- Free Voice Navigation on Ovi Maps!!

This blog will be to explore all the possibilities, gripes, tricks, tips and hacks for the Nokia E72 and other related phones. Bookmark it, set it as your homepage, anything to ensure that you are getting the most our of your E72! This blog is better if you contribute to the ideas and thoughts we discuss, so the question for this post is: What are the features that you see makes the E72 stand out from the rest?

QWERTY Phones

Stuff.TV did a video on their recommendations regarding the best 5 smartphones that utilize a QWERTY keyboard. For those that use their phone for SMS messaging, instant messaging, word processing and emails, a QWERTY keyboard is quite important. So putting aside all the other considerations such as cameras and GPS, let's look at what are the Top 5 smartphones. No prizes for guessing which phone came first!

How to turn off the slow flashing light

It seems not everyone is impressed with the "breathe" function on the Nokia E72. One of the readers turning in to our MyE65 blog couldn't figure out what was causing his phone to slowly pulse or flash a white light coming from the Opti Navi Key.  Eventually they found out from Nokia that it is the "breathe" function which pulses a gentle light to let you know where your phone is in the dark. When you miss a call, email or SMS, the slow pulsing light becomes a more urgent flash. So if you do not like the flashing? This is how you turn it off:
Go to menu, control panel, settings, general, personalisation, notification lights, standby br.light, select off.

Be Careful How You Unlock E72

I just called up Three to have my phone unlocked but after going through with the operator and entering the unlock code, I got a "code error". I tried again and got the same result. She then mentioned that some Nokias such as the E72 have been experiencing problems with unlocking. Three is looking into it and until then, I should not try to enter the unlock code. After three attempts to unlock the phone, it will be permanently locked!

For those that will be bringing their mobile phone to another carrier other than the one that they signed up with, or if you are wishing to use a sim card overseas on your E72, you will need to know how to unlock your phone. Most service providers will give you the unlocking code for free. Three Australia provides the unlock code for free if you call them up and tell them that you need to use the phone overseas. They will talk you through how to unlock your phone.

If you already have the unlock code, this is what you need to enter in your phone from the main screen.

How to Unlock an E72?

Some networks around the world lock their phones so that users are unable to use a SIM card from a rival network. It is not illegal to unlock your phone, and depending on your network provider, it may involve a fee. For those using a Nokia E72 on Three or Vodafone, you can unlock your phone by calling up customer service. The best reason to give for unlocking when they ask is that  you are going overseas. They will then:

1. Ask for your IMEI number by asking you to type in *#06#2. They give you a code that looks something like #pw+23489729429834+1#3. The phone will say "sim card restriction off"

If you are not with one of these network providers, there are websites which allow you to unlock your phone for a small fee. With some plans that networks lock you into, the fee is usually worth it. Just make sure you do not try unlocking more than three times.

Controlling your E72 from your Computer

The Nokia PC suite has been developed to such a level that even when Nokia launched Ovi, it seems that it still hasn't eclipsed the versatility of the Nokia PC suite. With the Nokia E72, there are many ways you can control your phone from your computer via this free software.

Incoming calls and SMS. When the phone is connected via USB or bluetooth, incoming calls and SMS will be displayed on your computer screen as they come through, enabling you to read the SMS or even answer the phone from your computer. Of course, you can then reply with an SMS by using your computer's keyboard which I guess is only slightly faster than the E72 keyboard.

Syncing photos and calendar entries. If you have your phone connected via bluetooth to your computer, you can have your computer download the most recently taken photos from your E72. You can also update your Microsoft Outlook with the calendar entries that you have added on your phone while you were out and about. From your computer you can also add calendar entries and contact details to your phone via PC suite. To read more about the PC Suite Calendar, read this post on MyE65.

Adding more to your phone. The wireless connection to your computer or the faster USB cable connection enables you to also install new applications that you downloaded from your computer for your phone as well as other things like MP3s and excel spreadsheets that you would like to refer to while you are out (eg price lists, expense trackers etc).

There's more that you can do but much of the fun is discovering it yourself. Come back when you find something really useful that you would like to share.
